Update on Jan's Condition

Jan made the trip home to Canada safely. He is in London Ontario currently undergoing surgery to repair his ACL in his right knee and have surgery to repair his left thumb. Jan had an MRI late last night which showed that his ACL was torn but the rest of his knee is in wonderful condition. This is good news considering and Jan is confidant that rehab, recovery and fitnes training will only improve his sking in the season to come. Jan would like to say "Thank-you" to everyone who has flooded his email and voicemail with support and everyone watching out for him and praying for him.

Super G

Today's race was amazingly entertaining, lot's of ties and "did not finish". Canadians had a fair day with Jan finishing first Canadian in a tie for 9th, John Kucera finishing 15th, Francois tied for 13th, Robbie Dixion 41st. Erik and Manny did not complete todays race, we are praying that they just skiied out and didn't crash. Hopefully the next entry will be from Jan himself as he will return home tonight for probably just over 48 hours, and then off to Europe for some more racing. Have a great day, "We."

GS in Beaver Creek

After a day of "rest" the boys were back at it again, in a technical event, Giant Slalom. This is possibly the first time Jan has raced a world cup GS, and he almost qualified for the second run finishing 32nd after the first. Only the top 30 are able to compete in the 2nd run and there were some great Canadian Cowboys right in there, Johnny Kucera finished 6th WAY TO GO! Francois Bourque finished 9th, absolutely amazing!! Hopefully Super-G will actually run tomorrow, have a great night. "We."

Beaver Creek Colorado

Racing on the Birds of Prey is a special experience, and can be a dangerous one... Please pray for Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway as he is in hospital recovering from a terrible accident in Tuesday's training. With only one training run under his belt Jan skiied to an impressive 17th place in Friday's race. There were three Canadians in the top 20 on Friday, Johnny Kucera finishing 13th, and Erik Guay finishing 15th. Another great day for Canada!! On a side note the Super-G scheduled for Saturday is postponed until Monday and the Giant Slalom is set to run Sunday. "We"

Beautiful Lake Louise Alberta

As you can tell the website is in need of an update. Jan is having some computer and time problems, so "we" thought we would help him out, and "we" wish to remain anonymous....
Lake Louise Alberta has got to be one of the most beautiful places to hold a world class event. The training runs were so great, and Jan's win on the final training run had everyones emotions running high, the tension was thick.
Jan came down the mountain 5th of 69, so all of his family and friends had to wait for another 64 racers to watch him secure his Gold, that was so emotionally taxing that some of the older folk almost didn't make it.
The festivities were grand, celebrating the first Canadian Win in Downhill at Lake Louise, but there was also a tight schedule as Jan was to race again the next morning. After a mild celebration and an "early" retreat to his room, Jan came back on Sunday to place 8th overall, standing in the top ten with two of his very close teammates, Erik in 5th and Johnny in 7th, good job guys.
"We" are so thankful for all of the support from everyone at the mountain, all the staff and everyone watching from their computers and televisions at home and around the world. "We" are very excited for the whole season and hope you are all watching this weekend while they race in Beaver Creek Colorado.

Farnham

Veeerrryyy Niicce! Just finished up a camp at Farnham Glacier by Panorama BC. Kudos to all the boys..(n girls) that worked their butts off for the last several weeks/ months to get us an amazing downhill track all to ourselves. Besides Bonking my head pretty good the second last day, it was one of the best/ most memorable camps i've ever been to. Also, a big "Shout Out" to Bruce, from Elbow River Helicopters for the outstanding service and sweet flying the last couple weeks. See you all at the Lake in late November. Jan

Summer-Fall Training

Summer training in Chile was a blast this year, and some of the best conditions we've ever had anywhere! The first two weeks were spent in La Parva, where we had some nice POW every few days, and the next few weeks in Portillo, where we trained downhill n Super-G with the "Austrians" and Axel Svindal from Norway. If you wanna see some cool footage of the Massive jump we had in the DH, search "Jono Brauer" on you-tube. It shows some "big-air" by the Aussie a week after we were there. Worth the watch, and Thank God he's OK. Check it.

Erik 1st, Jan 5th, Manny7th...

What a great weekend in Garmisch. Tough conditions as usual in germany. "Garmisch is one of those downhills that sometimes makes you want to quite ski racing", is a quote from a well respected and talented old vet. To have the results we did, here in Garmisch says a lot about how we're skiing now as a team and it will only add confidence going into the last races and next season. Erik got his much anticipated and deserved Gold and Manny and myself got more of those crutial points for the Over all downhill standings. p.s. After the race, we played hockey with the americans for about 2 and a half hours that night. Just put the icing on the cake. See ya, Honzo

F.L.C.D.

"Fans Lovit, Chicks Diggit" Thats one of many things Kevin Taught me this past weekend. ( and this goes out ot all the old "simple hockey players" ) Kevin, Thanks for having us out at Lake Louise with your family and Sean last weekend. We all had an incredible time, learned lots of new things and made new friendships! oh ya, and thank you for quoting "F.L.C.D" while Skooling all the young kids on the pond. For a "simple hockey player" your moves looked more like that of Jaromir Jagr! But, Thats why FLCD. Thank you again EQUITY Transfer & Trust for an unforgettable weekend in the Rockies. See you on the slopes Jan

World CHAMPS SILVER!!!!!!!!!

Ok ok, It's thursday and I JUST got two minutes to update this thing..... sorry for the wait. Well, what can I say..... Thank God for such amazing Blessings! For the Record, before I write anything else, I just want to say that any one of my team mates could have been on the podium with me that day. I am extremely blessed to be on such an amazingly talented, young and competetive team. All the staff, in no particular order ( Paul Kristofic, Lionel Finance, Serge Dugas, Dale Stephens, Kurt Kothbauer, Doug Linklater, and Dr. Chris Irving among many others) have all worked extremely hard and should take as much credit for our success as we do. Thank you to my whole team; Racers and staff for relentlessly pursuing excellence. I'll write more later, when I have more than two minutes. Thanks again to everyone and "point em downhill"!! Jan

"Point Em Downhill !!!"

Turns out, thats pretty good advice! Whatever I was doin the last couple days wasn't really working, so I tried what Kevin (my new sponsor) told me to do in lake louise, "point em downhill". So, I knew i had to do that today. I love super-G, and the course here in Groden is a beautiful course. I started pretty far back again today because my new points still aren't in the mix, so I had to charge hard to even get a chance to be up front at the end of the race. I did exactly that, minus a few little bobbles, (which happen when you're charging hard) I had a sweet run and punched into 15th place from the 48th start number. Another good result and more points for the season... Two north americans on the podium, and a bunch in the top fifteen today.... its starting to look better and better. lol. See you guys in the Downhill tomorrow, where i'll be tackling a fast, bumpy track, with crazy terrain and of course the famous "camel jump", between 55 and 70 metres of flight.... wwwooooooohhoooooo. jan

Walk-EZ Revolutions

Thanks to Bill and "Heavy" from Walk-EZ Revolutions out of Colorado. I saw their ad in a local paper and then ran into them on the hill at Beaver Creek. They hooked up our team with a bunch of...... "sole protecting, knee saving, stair climbing, comfort- walking, slip-on, protectors" for your ski boots. Check em out for yourself, they're sweet. Thanks again Bill & Heavy, Jan

Creative Innovations

I just wanna send a shout out to Mike White and Creative Innovations for helping me with my website. I've know Mike for a long time through ski racing and he's really worked hard on my and many other team member's sites. So, Mike, thanks again for your tireless help, You ROCK! and your "creative innovations" are pretty good too! Honzo

Thank you to EQUITY Transfer & Trust Company

This summer I was in Portillo Chile training with the team and I always meet some great people that love skiing and the mountains (sometimes more than I do). One night a few of us were soaking in the hot tub, (a portillo classic) and I met Kevin, a business man from where else? Calgary my home town. Turns out he Sponsored several athletes for the torino Olympics and really loves skiing. Long story short, after taking all our money in a "friendly" game of poker, he became a really good friend. After a few tough years of injuries I was having trouble convincing sponsors I was a good investment. Kevin's a straight shootin, stand up guy and Believed in me enough to come on board this year as my "arm patch" sponsor. So, I just wanted to write a quick note on here to acknowledge EQUITY'S support and great partnership. Kevin brought out his business partner Paul for the Bombardier Lake louise world cup this past week and i think they had a lot of fun! It was great performing in front of my friends, family, and of course my new partners. I'm now in Beaver Creek waiting for it to stop snowing! See you on the slopes! Honzo
